A common question among Negroes looking discredit the Bible, and non-blacks looking to dismiss the severity of chattel slavery in America.
Did the "white man" use the Bible to enslave the Negro?
Slavery is in the Bible, but it is purely dispensational and never given as a commandment. They didn't have the monetary system we have today, so they exchanged in HUMAN RESOURCES such as virgin daughters and a variation of other commodities. The Bible - most notably the book of Leviticus - simply gave guidelines on how to treat the slaves who were exchanged for goods and services. It was a normal and accepted practice--God just gave them guidelines. However, the American chattel slavery enacted upon the Negro by Caucasoid people did not abide by those guidelines.
So the answer is NO!
The Bible did not enslave Negroes, a new release of Jordan's will have Negroes lined up ready to spend money that they don't have--A Beyonce/JayZ concert will have Negroes lined up ready to sell their souls for an hour of entertainment. Christianity played a huge part in the mental enslavement of the Negro, but Christianity isn't based on scripture, as proven time and time again in this very blog.
